Things are stacking up in our STREAM Lab! 4th, 5th and 1st all did the paper pillar challenge to see how many books they could stack on paper pillars they made from recycled paper. They were shocked at the results!
Kindergarten and 2nd grade did a STREAM activity in the art room - they learned about chemical reactions with baking soda and vinegar as they created fizzy apples!

In fifth grade last week, students made mold terrariums to test different additives and environments that might help prevent mold. Stay tuned for our findings! Thank you to everyone who sent in materials for our science experiment.
For Hispanic Heritage Month, 4th grade ELA studied a biography of Frida Kahlo and her animals and created a collage of her and her parrots.

The fourth grade students spent some time creating religious art. They took inspiration from the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo for their technique.
The fifth grade class spent part of their day at our Church with Fr. Lampitt on a Signs & Symbols Scavenger Hunt! Our students are blessed to have the opportunity to encounter Christ during the school day.

Have you ever seen such sad faces? These sweet second graders were devastated this week because their class pet, Cookiedough, was missing! They created lost dog posters to help find her! Thank goodness she showed up after just one day!
Are you celebrating Read A Book Day? Every day is a great day to read at book and we love our readers at SMS! Share a picture of yourself or your Marksmen reading or let us know your favorite book or author! Pete the Cat is always a hit in preschool!
Tomorrow is our first Early Dismissal and Spirit Day of the year! Students may wear SMS spirit clothing and will be dismissed at 1:30. Aftercare is available.

The 5th graders were so excited about book mail this week from author Jerry Craft! He not only sent us books for our classroom library, but he also sent each student an autograph with a drawing! How cool is that?!
