Our students had the opportunity to visit the Community Festival of Nativities earlier this week. Monsignor Brownsey led them in a discussion about Nativities and their history throughout our church and then students spent time exploring, studying, and pondering their beauty.
Three year old preschool students had fun this week creating gingerbread houses. This is a great way to work on building important hand muscles that are necessary for handwriting and pencil strength. Although, I'm pretty sure more frosting made it into their mouths!
Today, Dr. Dillon led a group of St. Mark families to Springfield. They were there to meet with state legislators about saving our scholarships through the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Program. They joined others from around the state who hope to show how valuable the program is.
On Giving Tuesday, could you give of your time and say a prayer for us? Pray for our students, that they may know God. Pray for our families, that they may be a shining light to their families. Pray for our teachers, that their path may be lit by the light of Christ.

Third and fourth grade students celebrated Thanksgiving with a cultural feast. Students brought in food that was culturally significant to their families. This is such a special opportunity to share with our friends about the differences that make us all special and unique!
Our kindergarten, first and second grade students had a fun friendship feast to celebrate Thanksgiving. We love watching their sweet friendships grow at SMS!
As we continue to count our blessings, we count among them our SMS Parents! We work best as a team and having parents on that team makes us a success! Thank you to all the parents for the hours volunteering, the food donated, the prayers prayed and the support for the teachers!

SMS Fourth grade students read the story Balloons Over Broadway and then made their own balloons. They even went on a parade through some of the classrooms, showing off their creative and imaginative designs.

This morning, Monsignor Brownsey celebrated Mass with the students. After, he spent time sharing in depth about the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and how to be present with the Lord and focus on actively listening to His word through prayer.
The 6th graders enjoyed building their own operation game, learned how to partially code a website, and explored body systems in VR at the JUMP Center! Thank you, Sr. Pieta and the JUMP Trading Simulation, for having us!
At the end of the assembly celebrating Dr. Dillon on Catholic Principal Appreciation Day, the students begged Monsignor Brownsey to shoot a basket! The cheers were resounding when he made the shot!
