2022-2023 School Health Requirements

BREAKFAST & LUNCH
Breakfast is serviced from 7:30 AM - 7:45 AM. The cost of breakfast for the 2022-2023 school year is $1.85. Any tardy students will not be served breakfast. Please plan accordingly. (If you DO NOT want your child to take a breakfast, please make sure they know that and DO NOT go into the breakfast line as they're coming into school.)

IMMUNIZATIONS
As a reminder, per state law (105 ILCS 5/27-8.1), documentation of required health-related examinations and immunization requirements for students, or applicable exemptions or appointments allowed by law, is required to be filed with the school by Oct. 15. If a child’s family has not ensured timely compliance with these important health requirements by Oct. 15, then the students must be excluded from school until proof is presented that you have met the requirements.
FREE & REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS
Free and Reduced Lunch applications were sent home today with families who have not completed one. If you are unsure if you qualify, please go ahead and complete the application. These applications are confidential and can be returned in a sealed envelope to the office.
** Please write “does not qualify” and send it back to the office if you do not meet the income requirements.
BEFORE CARE AND AFTERCARE
Before Care begins at 7:00AM until 7:30 AM - If your child arrives before 7:30, you will be charged.
Students can be dropped off anytime after 7:30 AM. Please do not leave your child standing outside if it is before 7:30AM, even if a staff member is present. If this occurs, they will be sent inside and charged for before care.
Aftercare is available until 5:30 PM. Please contact the office for an aftercare registration form if you plan to utilize aftercare. It is important for us to have the form for contact information.
ATTENDANCE & PICKUP COMMUNICATION
Please notify the office AND your child’s teacher of any changes in pickup, doctor appointments, illnesses, etc. When you send a communication via email, be sure to copy all who should be aware of your message. The office can be notified by telephone (309) 676-7131 or by emailing Mrs. Alexander at salexander@saint-mark.net.
ATHLETICS
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Girls 5-8th basketball practice will start next week. You should be receiving an email from coaches soon if you have not already. Packets are attached and available in the office. The packets, sports physical and $40.00 fee MUST be turned in before the first practice. Athletic Packet
GOLF
St. Mark will not be participating in golf this year.

SMS WEBSITE AND APP
Have you seen St. Mark’s school website? Take some time to explore at school.saint-mark.net! We also have an app that can be downloaded from any app store on your phones! Lunch menus, school and athletic calendars, staff information, and a link to our parent portal can be found on both our website and the app. Our parent portal is where you can access your child’s grades as well as lunch balances and tuition
balances.

CHOIR REGISTRATION (3rd-8th Grade ONLY)

FREE TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES
This is your LAST opportunity to sign up for tutoring!
America Reads will also be available in the next few weeks.
Tutoring is available Monday-Friday after school till 4PM and before school from 7:00-7:30AM. This is a free service offered by some of the St. Mark School teachers. This is a first come, first serve basis. Please contact Ms. Gilbert (lgilbert@saint-mark.net) if you are interested in after school tutoring. Students must commit to the year and attend 2-3 sessions per week.
ST. MARK’S LEGO LEAGUE TEAMS ARE FORMING FOR THE 2022 SEASON!
If your student is interested, please attend our kick-off meeting on Tuesday, August 30, from 430-6pm, in the library.. If your student is interested in being on the team but is unable to attend the kick-off meeting, please email gregory.tomlins@gmail.com.
More information on Lego League can be found in the attached flyer. We are limited to 20 students total. We could also use some more parent volunteers - no experience necessary!
SMART KIDS
Attention 4th & 5th grade parents:
Information and forms have been sent home with every 4th and 5th grade student regarding SMART Kids. If your child wants to participate, all forms need to be returned to the school office by Tuesday, August 30th.

PSA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
In case you missed out on signing up for volunteering for PSA events at Taste of St. Mark, here is your chance. Our first three events are listed here. Anyone who signs up will be entered into a drawing to win a handmade St. Mark cutting board, Starbucks gift basket, Pottstown gift cards, and Bearded Owl gift cards. Raffle will be open until August 22nd. (If you signed up in person, no need to sign up again). Thanks for making St. Mark the best!!
125TH ANNIVERSARY SPIRIT WEAR T-SHIRTS
We have a few select size YOUTH small through large t-shirts left in stock. If you are interested in purchasing before our next spirit day which is next week, feel free to contact Angela Barth at abarth@saint-mark.net. She will have it ready for you in the office for pick up. We do have short ($15) and long ($20) sleeve options.
THE BRADLEY UNIVERSITY/DAPCEP STEM PROGRAM
The Bradley University/DAPCEP STEM Program is open for registration (dapcep).
Our location will offer in person and limited virtual options for the Fall of 2022. We have prepared courses for students from 4th – 12th grade for this session.
Our program will take place from September 10, 2022 – October 8, 2022 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Please feel free to use and also share this information. All program flyers are below. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email. (jhenderson@bradley.edu)
