TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAYS TO COMPLETE THE TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS FOR 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR!

Deadlines for our tuition assistance opportunities are coming quickly.  In order to be considered for any assistance from St. Mark School & Parish, families are required to apply for all of the scholarships that you are eligible for.

We ask that you reach out by April 8th, if you need help completing any of the steps.  There will be no one available to help during April 14th-24th due to our spring break.  Please be aware that you need to have your 2021 taxes done in order to apply for Spalding, Kremer, and Empower Illinois.

Every step of applying for tuition assistance needs to be followed.  If you look at the tuition rates below and determine what your total cost is, you should be able to understand what your potential need might be. As you can see from the Tuition Contract sample below, EVERY family already receives assistance from the Parish. Families cannot assume that the same assistance that you received last year will be available again this year.   There is not a guarantee that you will receive these scholarships because they each have limited funds. It is important that you also send in a letter explaining your need to the Tuition Assistance Committee.

2022-2023 ST. MARK FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance for St. Mark School Tuition is available from multiple sources for our K-8th grade students ONLY.

* All applications are due TODAY, April 29th

1. The Invest in Kids Empower Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship

2. The John Lancaster Spalding Scholarship Fund

3. The Kremer Foundation

4. St. Mark Parish

5. Legacy Scholarship

*Note: All families requesting ANY financial aid must complete the FACTS Grant & Aid Application at https://online.factsmgt.com/aid

You will receive step-by-step instructions and need the following documents to complete the application:

·      Federal income tax return and supporting schedules

·      W-2 Wage & Tax Statements

You will need to pay the application fee in order to submit the application.

Assistance with your FACTS Grant & Aid Application is available online or call Customer Service 866-441-4637.

1. The Invest in Kids Empower Illinois Tax Credit

The application for this scholarship is at empowerIllinois.org. Applicants must meet certain household income criteria to be eligible. Application reservations opened on January 14, 2022. This is available only to K-8th grade students. Application is on-going, but must be completed by April 29th for current families to be considered for assistance for the next school year.

2. The John Lancaster Spalding Scholarship

This is an endowment fund established in honor of Archbishop Spalding, the first Bishop of Peoria. Tuition assistance scholarship grants are available to students enrolled/intending to enroll in grades Kindergarten through 12 in any Catholic school located in the Diocese of Peoria whose families are members of a Catholic parish in the diocese.

3. The Kremer Foundation

This grant that is offered to St. Mark may have up to $1000 scholarships for St. Mark students entering K-8th grade. The application is attached to this email. Eligibility is explained on the form.

4. St. Mark Parish Scholarship

Families must complete a FACTS Grant & Aid application and provide tax documents. You can submit a letter detailing additional assistance needed to be considered for assistance from St. Mark Parish.  This letter and documentation can be dropped off to the school office in a sealed envelope marked Tuition Assistance Committee.

5. Legacy Scholarship (this for Pre-K students ONLY)

This newly approved incentive was approved by the Finance Council just this year. For families who have children in Pre-K AND any children in grades K-8th, a $1000 scholarship may be applied to your tuition. This scholarship is available for five day/full day students only with a K-8th sibling at SMS.

All scholarship grants are issued for one school year. Families must reapply annually for

consideration. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible to ensure ample time to gather and submit any required documents. Assistance will be based on need and completing all the required steps. For new families who apply after the deadlines above, you may still apply for St. Mark Parish Scholarship, but funds may be limited or possibly unavailable.

*Note: If you are awarded the Empower Illinois Scholarship or the Spalding Scholarship, your aid from St. Mark will be adjusted. If you receive the Empower Illinois Scholarship your Spalding Scholarship will be rescinded.

Again, we are here to help you along the way and want to ensure you have all the appropriate documentation in on time to increase your chances of receiving the assistance your family needs. Please let us know if you have any questions and contact us at the school office at 309-676-7131.

Please be sure to complete ALL of your applications and turn in your letter to the Tuition Assistance Committee to the school office by April 29th.

This year they are producing Footloose the Musical. Any students who are interested can check out their website http://www.performpeoria.com. The website lists all details about the show, and introduces some of their guest artists who will be joining them for this high energy production. Included is a video that talks about the program. Please don't hesitate to reach out to PAPAS if you need more information or have any questions.
