eFolder for May 24

Hello summer! Today is the last day of the 2018-19 school year. Testing is finished, report cards are printed, diplomas are signed, and it’s time to celebrate! We hope that everyone has a wonderful, restful summer. We will see you in August!!

Congratulations!

After 35 years of dedicated service to our school, Kathy and Ray Driscoll, will retire from serving our student lunches everyday here at SMS.  We have been so blessed to have this dynamic duo giving of themselves to our students for so many years!

After 20 years of committed service to our school, Cathy Happ, is setting her sights on a well-deserved retirement and spending more time with her recently retired husband, Greg, and their family.

After two years of completing her Master’s in Education for the Alliance for Catholic Education through the University of Notre Dame, we bid farewell to Ms. McNally.  Not only do we congratulate her on her own academic achievements, we are thankful for her time and devotion to St. Mark’s. Ms. McNally plans to move closer to home to the east coast to continue her teaching career.

All of us here will miss Mr. and Mrs. Driscoll, Mrs. Happ and Ms. McNally and will never forget their contributions to our school. Please join us in wishing them all the best in their retirement and best of luck to Ms. McNally on her new chapter in teaching.

Parent Advocacy Alert – Invest in Kids Program

In less than 10 days, the legislative session will be over and Illinois will have a new state budget. What does this mean for the Invest in Kids Program? We must make our voices heard now to save the program. Tax credit scholarship advocates have been pounding the pavement in Springfield each day to demand that legislators do not balance the state budget at the expense of Illinois’ kids and their education.

If you are unable to go to Springfield to personally meet with your state senator and representative, you can still make an impact! Let your elected officials know how important the tax credit scholarship program is to your family, school, and community. Stand up for Illinois’ kids and quality education options by contacting your legislator today at https://p2a.co/5s66BXA

Illinois “Invest in Kids”Tax Credit Program

Are you interested in receiving a Tax Credit? What if it could also help the students at St. Mark School? If you are interested in receiving and Illinois state tax credit all while helping more children have access to a private school education at St. Mark or Peoria Notre Dame High School, let us tell you about donation options available through the Empower Illinois “Invest in Kids Act”. Donors receive an Illinois tax credit worth 75% of their gift (up to $1 million) and donations can be designated to a specific school (St. Mark or Peoria Notre Dame) or a group of schools. Visit www.empowerillinois.org for additional information, or contact the school office for assistance with the donation process.

St. Mark Parish Fall Soccer 2019

Information and forms for the Fall soccer season at SMS for students entering grades 1-8 are attached.  All forms MUST be returned by June 23 with the $40 registration fee. (Soccer shirt is included in the fee.) Forms will not be accepted without payment. Teams are determined based on numbers submitted at the end of the year.  This helps determine whether we need to co-op with other schools.

Uniforms

Parents…sorting and packing your child’s uniforms, and don’t know what do with clothes they have outgrown? Please consider donating them to the school. We are looking for clean uniforms and spirit gear in good condition (no rips, tears, or stains, please.) Instead of packing them away, send them to us before the end of the school year. We will store and sort them for our sale in the summer.
