Students’ Last Day of School – Friday, May 24th

The diocese has informed all the schools that since they will have met the required number of instructional hours for the school year, students will not have to make up the missed school days taken due to severe weather. Therefore, the last day of school for our students will still be on Friday, May 24th with dismissal at 11:30AM.

The spring book fair is  a BOGO (buy one, get one free: equal or lesser value) Scholastic Book Fair.

The hours for this fair are as follows:

April 8, Monday: 11:00AM  – 6:00PM

April 9, Tuesday: 11:00AM – 6:30PM (Writer’s Workshop to follow)

April 10, Wednesday: 2:30 – 6:00PM

April 11, Thursday: 2:30 – 6:00PM

April 12, Friday: 10:00PM – 3:30PM

(NOTE: we are offering both daytime hours and evening hours to allow families time after school/work and those families who have kids in the AfterCare program, as well!)

Thank You!

What a wonderful 20th anniversary Roaring 20’s Auction we had! It truly was a Night to Remember! So many people made the evening a grand success–our donors, volunteers, school families, attendees. Whether you donated a bottle of wine, attended the auction, gave of your time, talent, and treasure to help, made a contribution, or said a prayer, we couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you so much! This generous spirit is one of the hallmarks of the St. Mark’s School Family!


Online Bidding

Online bidding will remain open until Wednesday, April 10th at 4PM.  Some of the items that are available online are Teacher for the Day on our “Kids Rule the School” day for all grades and for P.E., Art, Music, and Computers. Your child can also be the Secretary for the Day or have lunch with Dr. Dillon. You can bid on the front pew for First Communion or Graduation. Do you always want to have a parking spot available close to the office? Bid on your very own parking spot. There are several PND sports camps available online as well.

Spring Musical – Shrek, Jr.

Come and meet the exiled fairytale creatures as they cheer on Shrek and his trusty steed, Donkey, on the quest to reclaim their place in the city of Duloc! Toss in some hilarious characters, a lonely and annoyed Dragon, and Lord Farquaad with a small – er, tiny…un…-request for a Princess and you’re bound to see some magic.

Writer’s Workshop Featuring SMS Alums the Klise Sisters

Join us on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30PM in the gym for our Writer’s Workshop with St. Mark’s alumni, Kate and Sarah Klise. Please return your RSVP ASAP! (Parent supervision is required.)

2019-2020 Registration

Please complete the online registration forms as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the school office. The registration fee is now $75.


The Scrip program enables the school to purchase gift cards at a discounted price. Individuals purchase the gift cards for face value and the school receives the difference. Percentage of profit varies from retailer to retailer. In addition, Krogers shoppers can register their Kroger card on Kroger.com for the school to receive a donation each time they make a purchase. (No gift card purchase needed.).


We would like to encourage our families to utilize our Scrip program whenever possible. Using Scrip benefits the school, and can earn a rebate back to families that purchase enough Scrip to earn the school $50 in profits. After the first $50 in profits, the school and family share any additional profit for the year.This rebate can be applied to things such as lunch balances, Aftercare, or tuition.  


Now available in stock through St. Mark Scrip:  $25 Circle K gift cards with a 1.5% rebate. We still have a few BP $50 cards available in stock.  Also, as of right now the Old Chicago Pizza Pals will no longer be available, but $25 Old Chicago gift cards are available.  


Don’t forget that Scrip gift cards are available for purchase in the school office Monday-Friday during normal office hours and after Masses on the weekends.

Spalding Scholarship

Parents are encouraged to apply online at: online.factsmgt.com/aid. Families of students currently receiving grants are reminded that all grants are for one year only, and anyone seeking to renew a grant for the 2019-2020 school year must reapply.


Deadline date for the completed application is April 15, 2019. Notification of grant awards will be made by mid-June, 2019.


Another funding opportunity is also available due to the Invest in Kids Act legislation in Illinois. Students may be eligible for up to 100% of tuition and fees under a new program for tax credit scholarships (TCS). Details on how to apply and who qualifies are available on the Empower Illinois website at www.empowerillinois.org. Students who receive a TCS are ineligible to receive a Spalding award.


If you have applied for a Tax Credit Scholarship through Empower Illinois, you can check your application progress, eligibility status, and award status on your EmpowerXChange portal. Scholarship awards began on January 28 and will continue on a rolling basis.

PND-Randy Simmons Shirts available for Ordering…AGAIN!

The link is open to the ‘store’ to order the Randy Simmons Tuition Assistance Shirts again.   The cost of the shirt will now be $20 and all the proceeds will go toward Randy Simmon’s Tuition Assistance Fund. People will have the option to have the shirts shipped to them directly (they will need to pay shipping and handling) or they can choose pick-up. For pick-up…they will be able to choose a school they belong to and the shirts will be shipped to your school. The deadline for orders is April 7.
