eFolder for September 29

Happy Friday! It’s the end of our first full month of school. It just seems like the school year is flying by. We’ve accomplished a lot in the first month…a lot of testing has been completed and classes are now if full swing. The weather has cooled a bit and that makes things a lot more comfortable in the gym and for our primary classes.

As we get ready to begin the month of October, here is a rundown of activities and days off for the month:

  • October 2nd-5th we will be holding our Book Fair.

  • October 5th is an early (1:30PM) dismissal, our Grandparent/Special Person Luncheon, and a spirit day with popcorn and soda sales after school.

  • October 6th, 9th, and 10th there will be no school. Enjoy the long weekend!

  • October 27th we will be hosting our annual Harvest Festival and Trunk or Treat.

No School

Please remember that we will have no school on Friday, Oct. 6th, Monday, Oct. 9th and Tuesday Oct. 10th. Our teachers will be attending a Diocesan Inservice on Friday; Monday we will not have school in observance of Columbus Day. and Tuesday the teachers will be attending yet another Diocesan Inservice. Enjoy the long weekend with your family!

After School Pickup Safety

Please help to keep our children safe and our neighbors happy during our dismissal pickup. Do not stop in the middle of the street blocking traffic while waiting for your children to enter your vehicle. This creates a safety hazard for everyone. Remind your children to wait for you to pull to the curb. If you are unable to find a place to park on the street, please use one of the parking lots and walk to school to escort your children to the car.

Book Fair

The Blue Ribbon Book Fair will be here Monday to Thursday next week. St. Mark does receive a percentage of all sales, both at the school and online. If you are unable to shop in person, you can shop online at http://www.readola.com/; be sure mention St. Mark’s for our school to receive a profit . Feel free to share this link with grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends. Also, we are still in need of volunteers. Please sign up on Signup Genius: https://tinyurl.com/marksmenbookfair.

Grandparent Luncheon

If your child will have a guest for lunch for our Grandparent/Special Person Luncheon on Oct. 5th, we will allow them to leave with their special person. This is an early (1:30PM) dismissal. If you would like to have your child leave with their special person, you MUST notify the office in writing or via email (salexander) that morning. All students leaving early will need to be signed out in the office. (You do not want a phone call from us saying that we cannot locate your child!) If we do not have written permission from a parent/guardian, we will not release your child early.

Sponsors Needed

Our athletics program is looking for sponsors. These can be a business, a family, or an individual. Any level of sponsorship is welcome. Please contact Miss Medland at rmedland for more information or to obtain a sponsor form.

Peoria Parochial League Soccer

Our 7th and 8th grade boys soccer team will play St. Thomas for the Peoria Parochial League championship. The game will be played under the lights on Monday, Oct. 2nd at Peoria Notre Dame starting at 7PM. Come out and support our boys…Go Marksmen!

BoxTops Contest

Don’t forget to send in those Boxtops! This is an easy way to earn money for our school. Our classroom collection is going on now through Oct. 20th. The class that collects the most BoxTops will win a spirit day and pizza party.
