St. Mark will host a Career and Resource Fair to share information about Career Exploration and Community Resources. We will also share information about Scholarship Opportunities (as it relates to St. Mark School and Peoria Notre Dame). If you or someone you know would be able to provide some great resources for our families, please have them contact Dr. Dillon at ndillon by October 15th.
Reminder about Spirit Day Approved Clothing
Please be sure to double check that your child is wearing what is allowed on Spirit Days as the Student/Parent Handbook explains:
Spirit Day Clothing
St. Mark uniform shirts or other shirts from a school related activity. (SMS Sport, Smart Kids, musical, religious, etc.)
Blue jeans, Khaki pants, Khaki cargo pants or St. Mark uniform pants. Pants should not sag, be tight or drag on the ground.
Blue jean shorts, Khaki shorts, Khaki cargo shorts or St. Mark uniform shorts. Shorts must be no more than 2” above the knee.
Tennis shoes, boots, or St. Mark uniform code shoes.
Please note: If your child is unable to meet these expectations, then he/she can wear his/her uniform.

Enchanted Forest Book Fair
If you were unable to make it to the Book Fair this week, it’s not too late! Online ordering will be available until October 14th.
Join us under the stars on October 13th at 7pm for the movie Coco! Doors open at 6:30pm. Admission is $3 a person. Popcorn, soda, and snacks will be available for $1. Proceeds will go to 8th grade fundraiser.
(Movie will show outside on the SMS blacktop, weather permitting. Bring blankets and chairs).
We are still collecting BoxTops. The classroom that collects the most BoxTops wins a $50 gift card (teacher’s choice). Collection ends October 24th.
Halloween Harvest Festival
Fall is quickly approaching and that means it’s time for our annual Halloween Harvest Festival. One of our largest events each year, takes a ton of help to make it happen. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities still available on Sign Up Genius including Setup, Clean up and Decorations, Providing Baked Goods for the Cake Walk, Serving Food, Game Monitors and of course TRUNK or TREAT. We are looking for donations of 60 CDs for an art project. If you have some to donate, please drop them at the school office.
Peoria Riverfront Museum Cartoon Contest
The Peoria Riverfront Museum is having a cartoon art contest for their upcoming exhibition, The Golden Age of Disney: The Collection of Steve Spain. To enter, create an original cartoon piece of art. Only entries that are unframed and on size 8.5”x11” paper will be accepted. Materials allowed include: ink, pencil, paint, crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Please submit entries to Mrs. Tomlins or the office by October 11th.
Peoria Playhouse "Be Anything!"
Be Anything! is an innovative program that propels “Take your Child to Work Day” to a new level. Help a child in your life explore the careers that excite them! Bid on career-related experiences with local professionals, offered in their place of work, exclusively for you and your child. Attend a family-friendly preview event, visiting a variety of professionals and learning about their careers. Finally, adults can attend an evening event where you bid can bid on premium experiences and participate in unique activities. More information can be found on their website.
The largest fundraiser for the school is looking for your help! St. Mark’s School’s 20th auction will be held on March 30! We are looking for another co-chair as well as help with all the committees (acquisitions, decorations, set up, dessert dash, etc.) for this very fun event! Interested in helping or learning more? 8th Grade Visit Day – Tuesday, October 16th
On Tuesday, October 16th Peoria Notre Dame High School will host its “8th Grade Encounter Day” for all area 8th graders from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Eighth graders will learn how PND students encounter Jesus Christ throughout our school community and learn more about the faith formation opportunities offered at PND!
Open House & Information Night – Wed., Oct. 24th
Peoria Notre Dame High School is hosting an Open House and Information Night on Wednesday, October 24th at 6:30 PM in the PND Auditorium. ALL our families are invited to this event and students are encouraged to attend with their parents.
8th Grade Placement Exam – Saturday, November 3rd
Mark the Date! The 8th Grade Placement Exam is Saturday, Nov. 3rd from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Prospective 8th grade students will take the High School Placement Test at PND and receive their official “PND Class of 2023” t-shirt. Check-in begins at 7:30 AM and testing begins at 8:00 AM. PND Shadow Visits
8th grade students are invited to experience a day in the life of a PND student by scheduling a shadow visit. Shadow visitors will have a chance to explore the PND campus, attend classes and lunch, and learn more about the activities that PND offers. STEAM Events at Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center
STEAM events at Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center will be back beginning this month. STEAM Saturdays are for middle and high school students interested in the medical industry. The 2018 Fall STEAM Events Series will focus on building virtual reality experiences, brain trauma, electronics in medicine and of course, medical school!
