eFolder for January 26

Happy Friday! We are ready to celebrate Catholic Schools Week!! Join us for our kick-off Mass on Sunday Just a reminder for the dress for Catholic Schools Week…remember that if you are not wearing your uniform, all clothing still needs to be Catholic school appropriate. That means no leggings, no ripped or torn jeans, no short skirts, no bare shoulders, and no heels.

Don’t forget to join us next Saturday for our annual Taste of St. Mark. Teachers and staff will be there, ready to answer any questions you may have about SMS. This event is open to the public, so if you know anyone that is interested in our school, please invite them!

Next week we will welcome Mrs. Ellen Cassiday to our SMS family. She will be our new ESL teacher, and will be working with many of our students.

Congratulations to our 8th Grade boys and our SMS cheerleaders on their great weekend at the Catholic Schools Tournament at St. Vincent. The boys are the 2018 8th grade boys Catholic schools champs, and our girls brought home two trophies from the cheer tournament for Best Sideline Cheer and Best Floor Cheer. The boys head to the IESA Regionals next week, with their first game at Hollis Grade School on Tuesday, January 30 at 5PM. Go Marksmen!

Good luck to our Blue and our Gold Lego League teams. Both teams qualified for the state match and will be competing in Champaign this Saturday.

Just a reminder that next Thursday, February 1st, is an early (1:30PM) dismissal with popcorn and soda sales after school. Please pick your children up promptly, so that we can begin our staff meeting on time. Any children not picked up immediately after school will be sent to aftercare and appropriate charges will be billed.

An Evening Parish Reflection and Explanatory Mass

Learn more about our beautiful gift of the Holy Mass. Join Monsignor Brownsey on Saturday, January 27th, at St. Mark Catholic Church for an explanatory Mass. Learn the why behind what we pray. Prior to Mass, beginning at 3:30PM, Monsignor will explore the history, symbols, and gestures of the Mass. During 4:30PM Mass, he will walk through the Eucharistic ritual, with commentary that will illuminate this most sacred Tradition.

All are welcome. Invite family and friends. The cost is free.
