Happy Friday! Wow…time flies when you are having fun! This Sunday is already the third Sunday in Advent. Two more days of school until break begins. Just a reminder that our Christmas Break starts on Wednesday, December 20 and runs through January 3. We will resume school on Thursday, January 4 with an early dismissal. This will be an 11:30AM dismissal and we will NOT have lunch or Aftercare on that day. Please plan accordingly for your children.

First Reconciliation

Congratulations to our children who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on December 9. Thanks so much to Msgr. Brownsey, Fr. Richard, our visiting priests, Rachel Medland, Laurel Stein, Ashleigh Koch, Sara Montgomery, Ali Dixon, Ellen Tomlins, and Bridget Johnson. Special thanks to all of our third grade helpers and their parents!

May we all celebrate the great gift of God’s mercy often!

Our parish will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday, March 10 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Please pray for our Confirmation candidates as they continue their preparation! On the confessional door is a chart on which you can pledge to pray for one or more of our young candidates. Simply add your name to the chart!

Scholarship Opportunity

The State of Illinois has created a new program through the Invest in Kids Act that will provide scholarships for children who attend Catholic schools. Scholarships could possibly cover up to 100 percent of tuition for the next school year.

There will be many families in Illinois interested in these scholarships. Scholarships will be offered on a first come, first served basis. To have the best chance of receiving one, it will be very, very important that you apply as soon as the application process begins. The date that the application process will start has been changed to January 24. We will keep you updated about this and also how to apply for the scholarships. Additionally, we will offer help to families who want it in completing the application.

As this is a new program, application details are being finalized and we will share them with you as soon as they are available. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.

Fall Fundraiser Update

I know another update regarding that early Fall fundraiser, right?! I wanted to share some exciting news that we were able to sit down and meet Mr. Phil Mc Leod, Director of Sales out of TN right after Thanksgiving. He wanted to make things as right as he could with the delivery mishaps that we had, and with this being our first time hosting them. So, he has granted us a $500 credit from our order (which means $500 extra profit for us!!!) and also is granting another $500 credit for next year, if we see fit to utilize them as we move forward! WHHOOOTTTT! Thank you everyone for your support for this fundraiser, it was the largest fundraiser PSA has had in years, raising more than $4800 pure profit! THANK YOU!!!

We would also like to share once again that almost 95% of all monies raised by PSA go right back into our school supply program! And the other 5% is used as needed when the school or church are in need of something. We recently purchased the rights so that SMS could offer the viewing of Screenagers this upcoming February.

As always, if you ever have questions, comments or concerns please call Cachet Rodriguez, President of the PSA at 309-397-7642 or email at psa
