eFolder for August 31

Happy Friday! Thank you to all of the parents that attended our Back to School Night on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend, we may need you to complete some paperwork.

Anyone (parents, grandparents, siblings older than 18, etc.) who would like to volunteer in the school or attend a field trip must complete the following:

  • CMG Online Safe Environment (print certificate)

  • Safe Driver Training (print certificate)

  • Fill out the State of Illinois CANTS Form

  • S2 Verify Background Check (Criminal History Background Search Form)

  • Volunteer Code of Conduct Form

Directions on how to create an account and complete these trainings are included in our new volunteer packet that was attached to this week’s eFolder.

Families that have previously completed the above requirements only need to complete the Volunteer Code of Conduct form.

Please return all forms and certificates to the school office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Alexander in the school office.

Students not dressed appropriately will be given uniform clothing to wear for the day.

S.M.A.R.T. Kids

S.M.A.R.T. Kids – Saint Mark Against Random Trash is a club open to any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader that cares about the world they live in and keeping it clean. The club will meet every Monday afternoon from 3-4 PM. (When the weather changes, the club will not meet, resuming again in the Spring.) Students, with adult supervision, will pick up trash around the school and church grounds.

The goal is to keep our neighborhood clean and to set an example to those around us to do the same.

S.M.A.R.T. Kids will begin on Monday, September 10th. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 were given a form to fill out at lunch today. Forms need to be returned to the office by Friday, September 7th. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Faley at mfaley.

Vietnam Vets Fundraiser

More than 300 Spalding/AOL/Bergan alumni served during the Vietnam War Era – ten of those graduates made the ultimate sacrifice and their names are forever etched on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Out of respect for our fallen classmates, the “Ten on the Wall” group was formed nearly 4 years ago with the intent of organizing an Honor Flight consisting of Peoria Catholic High School Vietnam Era Veterans. On October 16 of this year, 40 alumni veterans are schedule to travel out of the General Wayne A. Downing (Spalding Class of ‘58) Airport, as a group, to Washington DC on an Honor Flight.

A fundraiser, sponsored by Ten on the Wall, has been scheduled for Sunday, September 16 at the Hickory Grove Park in Dunlap. All proceeds will go to support the Greater Peoria Honor Flight. Contact Bob LaHood at 309-264-9387 or email tenonthewalltour. More information can be found on the Ten on the Wall Facebook page.

Please support our Vietnam Veterans!
